The new American Musical film, Beauty and the Beast, was released to the United States on March 17, 2017 and continues to sweep the nation. Listed as the highest grossing film of 2017, the romantic film has received much praise for its magical and modern approach to the 1991 original.
Walking into the theater, popcorn in one hand and ticket for Beauty and the Beast in the other, you will find yourself unprepared for the magical experience that is to come. With songs of pure joy and happiness being sung by lively characters, the film itself moves you in a way that will leave a smile on your face for days. You will feel as though you are a child again as you dance along to the original soundtrack featuring new creations including “How Does a Moment Last Forever,” and “Evermore.”
The movie was directed by Bill Condon and written by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spilotopoulos. Co-produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Mandeville Films, this live action movie is based on the 1991 animated Beauty and the Beast which was directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise. The film itself featured modern twists and provided a 21st century outlook on the classic fairytale of love and adventure.
Beauty and the Beast received Movie of the Year at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards. The film also received five other nominations from MTV including Best Musical Moment, Best Duo, and Best Actor in a Movie, which was given to Emma Watson, who played the character Belle.
