Band missses finals by One place
Saturday Oct. 27 Band had their Lone Star Preview at Gelena Park scoring 11th place performing musicals Composer by Nelly Bell and a musical from the movie Tron: Legacy.
“We were a little disappointed because they take the first 10 in the finals, so we just missed it,” Band Director David Gresens said.
The students were scared as they performed, but after the reaction they received they were confident.
“Performing this year I had so many mixed emotions during our performance,” senior Taylor Traynor said. “I was so excited especially when I saw how the crowd responded it was heartwarming.”
They made a few mistakes during the performance but they came back way stronger than before.
“We did really great we could have done better,” sophomore Phuc Ngugen said. “We could have played better and marched better”.
They were kind of disappointed about the place they made, but happy because they still placed 11th.
“We always hope to get as high as we can, but we were satisfied with the performance,” Gresens said.
While they were up against Conroe, Kingwood, Spring, and Northshore High Schools they had a lot of competition.
“There was a lot of really stiff competition groups that finished ahead of us,” Gresens said. “They were all very good.”
Starting on a bad note, they managed, but they were quick to get back on the right track.
“We had to perform early in the morning, like first thing in the morning, which made it a little tougher,” Gresens said. “But we still did great.”
This year, the band contest wasn’t as great as previous years, many band members said.
“I think our best band contest was my sophomore year,” Traynor said.
