From Comics to your TV Screen
Riverdale wows a new audience.
On January 26, 2017, the CW premiered a show called Riverdale. It is a teen drama based off the characters of the Archie Comics.
The creators of the show decided to look at the Archie Comics from a different angle in order to create the show. The show is about a small town named Riverdale that has suddenly been of interest to everyone due to the murder of Jason Blossom and the mystery and secrets that are being kept hidden. The show gathers many of the main characters from the comics such as Archie Andrews himself, Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones, Veronica Lodge, and Cheryl Blossom.
This is not the first show that the CW has produced based on a comic series, but it is different in the sense that it revolves around teens more so than superheroes. Riverdale has so far been well produced between the angle that the show is going from the comics to the actors who are playing the main characters.
The town itself has conjured up some secrets of its own between the mysterious murder of Jason Blossom and the new girl in town Veronica Lodge. Veronica Lodge has moved from New York to Riverdale with her mother, befriending Betty Cooper and Archie Andrews. Betty Cooper is your standard girl-next-door with her naturally sweet personality and her desire to tell her best friend the feelings she has for him. Archie Andrews has been friends with Betty Cooper for as long as they’ve lived next door to each other, but has some secrets that started during the summer. Jughead Jones is the brooding outcast of the bunch, which makes it perfect for him to narrate the show.
Many people have been excited for the show because Cole Sprouse is back to acting after going to college, and taking a break for a few years. By watching the previews, you can see that acting is a skill he hasn’t yet lost and maybe never will. Though the other actors did not come from shows or movies that got as much attention as The Suite Life of Zack and Cody or Suite Life on Deck, they still made themselves known for the work they do. After watching the first episode you can see how great the actors’ chemistry with each other is.
Riverdale has been a great production so far. It has been showing how great the actors really are on camera and as their characters. The show premieres on Thursdays at 9/8c.
