Three FFA teams advanced to state this past weekend at the Area 3 CDE competition in College Station. Senior Kylie Reinert, juniors Kristen D’Ann and Kelsie Morris, and sophomore Hayden Harris placed 3rd in Homesite. The Range team, seniors Madeline Dixon and Jessica Wagner with juniors Melanie Hudson and Rebecca Griggs, placed 2nd. Placing first was the Land Team comprised of senior Nicole Shigley, juniors Rachel Hutchins and Lia Nicotra, and freshman Ashlan Orr.

“It’s and individual and team competition,” said Dixon. “We have to identify plants individually and then we get an overall team score, so it’s still and individual competition but I have to do well for the sake of my teammates. We’re all looking forward to state. It’s going to be awesome.”
