Bearkats Close Non-District Season
The Klein Bearkats took a rough start to the season with a season record of 2-2 in non-district games. The football team did not want to start off this way. The Klein Bearkats won their first two games in a row beating Cypress Creek High School 56-21, as well as Seven Lakes High School 30-0. After a great start, The Bearkats went on to lose the next two non district games, Memorial Highschool 31-17, as well as to the College Park Cavaliers 38-24.
“This isn’t the way I wanted to start this season off, but I have high hopes for our next six games,” senior football captain and 3-year letterman Quentin Curtis said.
Following the first two Bearkat wins, the team was confident for their upcoming games. Strong in their team’s confidence and their game plan for the next games.
“I expected us to perform the way we did in these first two games, and we planned on keeping our momentum up the rest of the year,” senior and football captain Aksel Richard said.
The Bearkats have always had problems losing key players early on in the season, as well as this season. The Klein Bearkats had many key players hurt in these last few games, such as senior Evan Peropat, 3-year varsity starter, Langston Stewert, 2-year starting quarterback, as well as a few more important aspects to the Klein roster.
After the Bearkats were humbled from their final non-district games, they set a goal to come back harder for the first district game against Klein Cain on Sept. 24
“Klein Cain has always been our rival, and we plan to shut them down this week. We know they are a good team, but we know we’re better,” senior and Varsity Captain Paul Ledet said.
