German Club students were thrilled to be once again caroling this winter. On Wednesday, December 17, German Club sang Christmas carols at the Atria Retirement Home in Houston.

“Caroling at old folks’ homes was awesome last year because we liked putting a smile on their faces,” junior Zacharay Plappert, German Club member, said. “I know a lot of us were just as excited to carol again as we were last time.”

German teacher Theresia Lee practiced carols with her students for weeks before school to help prepare them for the event.

“Last year, we did really great,” Lee said, “but I think this year was even better because we had enough time to sing more songs.”

“I really enjoyed singing ‘O Tannenbaum’,” Plappert said. “It seemed to be the most favorable to the people we sang to.”

Some other carols they included were ‘Fröhliche Weihnacht Überall,’ ‘Alle Jahre weider,’ and ‘Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht.’

“My favorite song to sing was ‘Kling, Glöckchen’,” said Isaac Maschke. “It’s quite catchy!”

The German Club was very satisfied with how they did this year, and they are eager to bring more holiday cheer the next time around.
