Klein Independent School District’s graduating class of 2023 accumulated a record-breaking $57 million in scholarship funds, an increase of over $9 million more than last year.
“Klein High is very proud of this group and knows that the rising class of 2024 will bring in even more,” College and Career Counselor Gayla Zamora said.
A fraction of that grand total comes from Klein High’s own class of 2023. Klein High students made up almost 18% of the $57 million from Klein ISD total scholarship earnings. These students were honored for their leadership, academics, merit, service, athletics and military.
“Receiving this scholarship is a mix of joy, relief, and a sense of accomplishment,”Fagun Shah, who received a $120,000 scholarship from University of Texas at Dallas, said. “It was a testament to my hard work and dedication as well as the resources and guidance that Klein ISD, and Klein High School provided me. … Having my undergraduate studies fully paid for really eases the burden and allows me to focus my time on making an impact in my education and my community.”
If Klein ISD’s graduating classes continue to follow the trend provided by the classes prior, the district’s record will continue to be broken.
“I could not be prouder of the Class of 2023,” Principal Brandon Baker said. “Klein High School has a deep tradition of academic excellence and this class definitely lived up to it through this accomplishment and many more. I am positive they will put those scholarship dollars to good use as they continue to pursue their purpose beyond Klein High.”
