While some students slept in the last few weeks of school, band students were up and ready to prepare for the school year. Klein band came in every day except Sunday at 7:30 a.m. nearing the end of summer. Summer band has been practicing for the season, performances and competitions, which they displayed at the August 25 game, when they performed “Another Day of Sun” for their halftime show.
“I do feel our practice was worth it, because we get better each day and we’re very well prepared for football games. I think at our show, we all tried our very best and had fun,” sophomore April Lara said.
Klein band camp also held dress up days, such as hippie day, Hawaiian day, even iconic duo day where drum majors Gautami Agrawala and Santiago Manrique were Stephanie and Sportacus from ‘LazyTown.’
“Dress up days were really fun. It was a great way to get the band to befriend each other and bond,” Santiago Manrique said.
With this summer’s temperatures reaching high numbers such as 110 and 112 degrees, band had been out practicing all during this hot summer.
“The heat adds a lot of exhaustion especially for the low brass and percussion, but it gets easier more into the week, most of the time it is the will of endurance,” sophomore Nathan Doyley said.
